Cosy cottage in Dungeness. Welcome to your home away from home.
Dungeness is a unique and strangely beautiful nature reserve, by the sea, on the edge of Romney Marsh in south-eastern Kent. Spectacular walks by the fishing boats or in the RNIB's bird sanctuary ensure that Dungeness never seems crowded while its wild beauty and sense of peace offer a rare and special sense of escape.
The house which was already called Wi Wurri when we bought it, is a typical Dungeness fisherman's cottage standing on the edge of the shingle beach. Look out from the porch at the front of the house and you see the sea and the fishing boats, and France on a clear day; look out the back across the little garden and you see past the somewhat ghostly power station to Romney Marsh while the famous Romney, Hythe & Dymchurch steam train tootles by.
Just a few hundred yards down the road from Derek Jarman's famous garden and Prospect Cottage, Wi Wurri has been rebuilt and is comfortable, spacious and very cosy. Wood-lined throughout, it has an open plan kitchen/dining area leading to a snug space with a wood burning stove (and a supply of wood) and on into a bright and comfy sitting room where you can enjoy breathtaking sunsets. There is a porch at the front and a sun trap deck at the rear which is lovely for sitting, reading, sun-bathing or eating out.
There are two double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms, one with a shower and one with a bath, and because the cottage has been built to modern building specs it heats up very quickly. There are also all the mod cons you may require such as washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, TV, radio and wi-fi.
“Wi Wurri in Dungeness was the perfect holiday home to get away
from it all. A lovely, cosy cottage nestled amongst beautiful scenery.
Thank you for a great experience!”
